Sacramento hotel room rates and occupancy are heading upward .

The average hotel room rates reached $107.48 in June, up 3.8 percent from $103.56 the year earlier.

Occupancy in June was 79.2 percent, up from 77.6 percent the year earlier, according to research by PKF Consulting.
